About the Wrapped in Courage Campaign

November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month. This is the month we invite the community to become more aware and engaged of the often overlooked issue of woman abuse in Ontario, and right here in our community.

The purple scarf/tie is a symbol of the courage it takes woman leave her abuser. However, the courage of the woman is not enough. It takes the strength of an entire community to end violence against women.

This year, we have added the purple pet bandana. Some women stay because the abuser has threatened to harm or kill a household pet. In a study reported by the Canadian Women's Foundation, 57% of survivors of domestic violence had their pet killed by an abusive partner.

W
e must band together to end violence against women. We thank you for your support.
